Yaesu or Sommerkamp FT 7B

Talking about old radios and nostalga got me thinking about the old radios I used to have. My first ever HF set was a Sommerkamp FT 7B, if I ever saw one for sale I would'nt mind having another for old times sake emoticon

hen I went to pick it up I was in awe of the thing, it was massive compared to the Cobra I had at the time, heavy and quite hard to remember where all the CB channels were.

But I was well and truly hooked into HF sets with this, the back lights at night were really sexy for 1981 emoticon It had crystals which need to be changed for 11 m TX emoticon

ive never seen one of those before, showing my youngness emoticon if older stuff was a bit cheaper and not so collectable i would get an old radio. I think i would get a buzz when people compliment you on your audio and then you tell them your radio is older than you are.
funny that, i have been lookin at old skool receivers. i know i shouldnt be spending more on me but i like the big old look of some of the old realistic receivers(and some more expensive ones), i think it would fill my shack table up a bit as mobile hf sets just look so small.

My very first HF radio was a YAESU FT-301, I eventually sold in the mid 80s to Mike a buddy of mine, He now lives in the Canary silands and guess what, He still has the FT-301 and it still works like it did when it was new.

Ive still got My Trio/ Kenwood TS-530-S and the Trio TS-530-S There excellent radios if you want to get a old boat anchor you wont go wrong with one of these.
