Re: Anytone at 5555 V5 Short review.

I think the anytones/k-po's/maas family of radio has become the antron99 of the new era.
People either hate them or swear by them, nothing much in-between.
My 2p worth, owned a k-po dx5000 V5 for not far off a year now (got one the week they were released), and I would give it 8/10.
The recieve is very good compared to other radio's I have had in the same scenario, including a crt 3900, and a borrowed Lincoln.
It did get bleedover though from local stations, and even some strong european ones lol, but after playing with the 'secret' menu to get it bang on frequency, I only get fantastic reports from mine.
Faults : The built-in swr cutout option is pants, and constantly cut out even when my swr was 1:1.1 on an external swr meter. It was a bit off frequency from new (but easy enough to sort). The knobs & buttons don't feel like they are really good quality, but touch wood everything still works fine so far.
For the price, you cannot fault these radio's, lots of options and features, good power output, and nice audio even with the standard mic.

Re: Anytone at 5555 V5 Short review.

I recently got a maas v4 of this radio second hand, and previous owner says he got it new less than a year ago. It was cheap, cheaper than most 40 channel cb's, and it's replacing my old ss3900-rip.
The only thing I can complain about is it's constant s1-s3 noise floor. The old 3900 was very quiet and hearing down low stations was a breeze. The low stations on the maas are always in the background noise, which can be a bit frustrating. But it gets out and I'm making some good dx contacts, so I shouldn't complain too much. For the price and my budget, it's ok.
Ordered the software so I can program it, but hasn't arrived from the UK yet.
All in all, it's a budget radio aimed at that market, and does the job. If you have more to spend, I think there are better radios out there.
Good DXing,
Mike.

Software arrived and programmed 6x60 channels. Easy to do and a better selection of frequencies.

Having had mine for some time now my only complaint is the channel change button. You only have to tap it and it will go up a channel!
Other than that Im quite happy with it.
I need a new twig now though
