11 meter di pole
hi i know this subject has been bought up many times, will this speaker wire on ebay
310508112427 be ok would you twist the two together or just use as single 13 gauge have not put a dipole in use before have got a so239 on its way, got to keep it cheap for the time being money a bit short at the moment, just picked up a kpo dx5000 v3 last night for £80 got to be a bargain will be nice to get back on the air very soon, can someone just go over the measurments for di pole again please thanks regards 26-FB 1054 Chris...

Re: 11 meter di pole
Hi Chris, the speaker wire is a bit small. It will work on low power, but the mechanics of it mean it would probably snap before you could string it up.
This is better

Or just get some electrical wire, twin and earth and strip it back, but this is nearly as expensive anyway.

For calculating the wire length see here, I would just go a little longer and trim it to suit

Re: 11 meter di pole
yes, that wire will have a high q. you could always use cheap coax (tv coax etc), just short both ends (inner to braid) and so on. cheap is good

Re: 11 meter di pole
get a peice off coax mesure exatly 108 inch back from the end trim off the outer 108 inch gently pull the inner through the braid put pl259 on other end you have a good 11 meter antenna simple and efectiv used one for years ps iff you are going to place outside put silican selant between theb inner and outer will last for years swr 1:1 25mhz 4:1 retune for any frequency you fancy by the en swring always cut same off center and braid to keep it balenced.

Re: 11 meter di pole
Hi,
300 / 'F in MHz' = xx metres
Divide by 2 = overall length of the dipole.
Times by 0.95 for a general velocity factor for the wire.
F = 27.555
300 / 27.555 = 10.887m
10.887 / 2 = 5.443m
5.443 x 0.95 = 5.170m
http://www.dxzone.com/catalog/Antennas/
Not a bad site for general antennas.
Also if you want cheapness & you have plenty of coax already, try a Bazooka antenna.
Or at a bit more cost due to extra wire, try a Extended double Zepp, a 5/4 dipole with up to 3db gain in two directions.

Re: 11 meter di pole
I have also made a dipole. It is made from solid aluminium. It is very simple to build. And it is doing a fine job.
Here is a picture of it.
How its made....

Re: 11 meter di pole how do i build stacked diapole?
hi,
i have a 11 meter 1/2 wave diapole horizontal
fed with balum, cut to freq the 5
now i read in a book i checked out, about making a stacked diapole it was a bit confusing.
i wanna raise the 1/2 wave , i got bigger ladder on site.
if i can recall can i put a 1/4 wave diapole can i feed the 1/4 wave with a balulm, anybody try this?
