The Yeticom Optima has arived today
I was taken back by the quality of the clarity of the RX on USB through a slimjim antenna
I am realy impresive quality first impresions it looks a excelent radio, hearing stations that i never heard before with very clear audio almost as if they where next door inparticularly a contesting station in the canneries this evening 2500 miles+ from my qth,
and bending the needle with cristal clear audio.
I will do some RX testing tomorow afternoon/evening once iv tuned the antenna in and report back later.

Thanks for your reply fb380 much apreciated
I have contacted qixiang they got back to me very quickly and sergested I check Quote
" 1、Pls check if the 2 diode in the SWR board( near the antenna connector) work fine. pls check the antenna, if the line lead to antenna connector is too close to the SWR board.
2、Pls check inside of the board , in the right side of the board above the aluminium support, there is a 7808 stabilization IC with 8V output. might broke "
It looks like I may be making progress I am going to check the diode and the voltage stabilization
Also FM and AM the SWR is a steady 1.3 it is only on ssb I have the problem and it is more of a problem on higher power setings.
the rsdio still locks up with the mic unpluged and the lcd screen dims Im thinking
the problem may be the voltage stabilization
The onboard componants spsrt from the 7808 stabilization IC, are very small for my eyes I think I will need someone to have a look at it if any of the smaller componants need replacing.
I have just Orderd a Yeticom Optima MKII to get me back on air
Many thanks

You managed to solve this problem DX5000.
I also have this problem, in SSB mode SWR is high.
Everything is ok at low power , to high power only appears the problem with high SWR.
Please leave a message if you have solved or not, if you find fault or not.
73 a special day.
or if anyone has had this problem as it did.

Re: anytone 5555 v5 swr and locking up
Hiya yo9hgr.
Sorry to hear that you have problems with your DX5000.
Unfortunataly I was not able to solve the problem and have ditched the anytone 5555
I would sergest checking the obvious possible problems first
I note you say it is on high power only
I would sergest the first thing would be to check your antenna and feed system starting with a suitably rated dummy load at the back of the set. you can make a cheap one from suitably rated carbon resistors from say rs component's
check the coax and connectors if using coax
for dry joints and any water ingress
also the antenna for damage etc and test with a dummy load at every joint
I don't use coax anymore having homemade twin feeder directly into the back of the home made atu from the antenna
Also if you are you using a atu in your feed system it might be worth checking for any arcing across the plates on the capacitor's
##################
If the antenna and feed system is all ok then it is very likely the problem may be within the rig On my rig I checked for dry joints the diodes and components on the swr board also replaced the 7808 stabilization IC
Unfortunataly I was unable to solve the problem and the cost of a rig doctor to look at the rig labour and postage costs etc it was cheaper for me to get a new rig
I have two rigs now a Kenwood TS50 and a yeticom Optima both work flawlessly without any problems
Good luck and if you manage to resolve the problem do post your findings as it may help other users with similar problems
Best regards
