My farthest contact thus far....

....was today!!
I have been working in Crewe today and I was going to try and call my partner back home on 27.445usb
I could here her calling from my qth in Worthing, west sussex, but she could not hear me.after a few minutes a station came up.At first I didn't get his callsign, but he was definitely calling me.
By this time I had called my partner by mobile phone and she asked who it was as she could not hear him.
Right, not being used to hear people calling me,i called back.
The contact came back as; 3SAB-WCB (Marco),Brazil He was giving me s3/r5 and I could make out 95% of what he was saying.
He could hear me s9/r5!....and I am very pleased to of chatted to Marco today.
Unfortunately,i have mot been able to confirm his callsign anywhere,so I wondered if any other FBDX users had chatted to this station before?
Either way,it has made me more determined to get swatting for my ticket!
Amazing,i was just trying to call home and see what happens in a laybye just off the M6 near Crewe :O)
I also tried calling out numerous times on 27.460 usb/lsb but nobody heard.
I will be sitting up at 'devils dyke' this sunday from 7am....happy dxing

Nice one!

3SAB/WC/B is a special 3 division World Cup station, theres a few out there.

You can qsl through his qsl manager here:

Ruth
PO Box 127
50010-970
Recife PE
Brazil

You'll need to send $2 for contribution and an addressed envelope, you can use the FB Po Box, as its a special activation and they will have had special world cup cards done probably. You can get dollars from the post office in ones usually.

Basically there are 7 stations from 3SAB group, if you work 4 of them they will send you a certificate etc. as well as qsl confirmation. The callsigns are:

NORMAL CONTRIBUITION + SAE 4 stations WORKED DIFFERENT LETTERS = QSL + DIPLOMA 3SAB/WC/A 3SAB/WC/B 3SAB/WC/R 3SAB/WC/T 3SAB/WC/F 3SAB/WC/C 3SAB/WC/L 1 station worked only QSL card special world Cup

Thankyou for the information!....I shall be looking out for them.
I don't mind contributions for a small group like this.
Still feeling quite pleased with myself
My best one today....
 302/SD000-OG72 ASIATIC RUSSIA on 27.470 s:4 r:4
Plenty of others too,but most of the time it was too QRP to complete details.
At least I know that I have been heard in South Africa / Helsinki / Canada / USA /.....today!
 Really enjoying the hobby.
Called out again for FB'ers....nothing heard.

Hi Rob, well done with your contacts. It is always a nice surprise when a station comes back to you and you find it is a few thousand miles away. once again. Well done

Re: My farthest contact thus far....

Hi all,
Ewen,i was trying so desperately to hear you mate!!....god,so frustrating, and thankyou for trying tho!I had exactly the same problem with Cambridge and Scotland too.
Thankyou for your kind comment 591/p emoticon
Well,i have been calling out every day on 555....I tend to head for the hill on the way home now!
 Had some good contacts mobile; Austaralia being my farthest,but argentina,jamaica,north of Durban,morroco,trinidad,west Canada,puerto rico,canary islands,asiatic Russia,st.martinisland,brazil,scandinavia,finland,france,ukraine,mexico,caracao island & Venezuela.....real fun!
I must admit,on my first contact with 43 division, another local station 'paved' the way. But,on the Monday,i had been working in Portsmouth .Between jobs I sat on the waterfront and managed to get a great QSO with 43sd310 tony. That felt good, especially as I called out and got the response, all by myself!! Ok,its not an unusual story to tell, but personally,it made my day.
On Thursday, driving back from oxford,i heard the words "indian ocean" I pulled over and gave it a shot.....not heard, damn.so,i carried on driving home, calling at various places on my journey. It wasn't until,3hrs later, and almost home....I got a response!he was fading a bit and getting a bit distant, but I got my first QSO to reunion island(173FR/AF016 David)worth the wait and my journey went so quick too!
Would also like to mention, all the stations that I have had 2nd/3rd contacts with.....always a pleasure!!
This week I am working near Birmingham,so I shall call out at some point in the week....definitely Saturday/sunday morning mobile and afternoons from homebase.
Taiwan and Japan heard on sunday morning, yelling for ages, but too many 'big guns' booming out emoticon...will keep trying!

Well done on your contacts !

9CT2020 is very active on 11m, and because he is originally from England many people don't realise that Jeff's London accent is coming from Canada emoticon
He popped onto our UKFM ch38 net one evening, and a couple of the locals thought it was a wind-up "nah your not in Canada" lol, quite amusing ...

Well good morning all,
its been a busy week for me working away, but I have had time to make some good contacts emoticon
west indies, bucharest, Kaliningradsk,romania,finland,jamaica,france,sweden,athens....and one of the best sounding stations EVER!!;102AA011 mona in Kuwait. She was giving me 20-30db in Kidderminster, now that's amazing.
But my best by far,for me,finally I got a QSO with 41RC012 Don in Auckland!! Ok,had a little help form a friend getting him to listen out,but it never ceases to amaze me that its possible.
Had a very good week near Kidderminster and managed to get up on the 'malverns' there is a local spot there called the double decker.Calling out on normal FM,but dxing none the less emoticonThanks to everyone that came up for a chat and sorry to the guys working on the M1..... emoticon
On my way home,i had a 40 minute QSO with CT2020,and I will be meeting him next week in my home town.
Back home and planning my itenery for india....unfortunately I wont get the 897 in this time...maybe a 857 at a later date!
