Hello from Kerry in Ireland

Hello,
My name is Paul, and I have decided to get back into my old hobby after being away since the late 80's.

I moved to Ireland last year from the UK and live fairly high up just off the ring of Kerry. The Atlantic is only about 5 miles away and my elevation is around 250m asl.

I have recently bought a couple of Magnum S9's (2sc1969 finals") a Superstar 6900n and have also still got my original Cobra 148 GTL DX's (two of them, both MK2)

I have a Sirio 827 which I intend to put up when the weather improves, also intend to purchase a "Gainmaster" when I've calmed the wife down emoticon and at present I am only mobile with my old tried and tested K40 boot mount.

Many stations from the states and Europe are booming in here and I am quite excited to be back in to radio once more.

Re: Hello from Kerry in Ireland

Hello Topbuzz,
There is a lot of room for an HF set, but not so much brass in pocket to fill said space emoticon
and also, I need to learn more about them first, as I am not too well versed with HF sets yet.

I have so many projects going on at the moment !
I decided to repair the psu on the TV when it died and now waiting for parts repair, and whilst waiting I decided to buy some old radios to play with which are dead. This resulted in investing in a frequency counter, signal generator and watt meter. Don't get me wrong, this stuff is very basic, and I cannot afford a scope, but I read this article and it inspired me :
http://www.copperelectronics.com/discus4/messages/34/85543.html?1370869464

and as this is for my own enjoyment, I thought, what the heck. It is quite crude and as the op stated a little "down and dirty" but I do tend to learn well when dropped in the middle of it all emoticon
So a HF set is on my list but not just yet.

I'm sure I'll catch you out there one day though, and seek your advice on a set before I do.
73's

Paul
