Hot mic!

Hi all just wondering if anyone can tell me why my mic gets so hot when I tx and sort of shocks me too? It's really frustrating because if I touch any metal component on it or my lips touch the metal grill it sort of shocks me. If anyone knows why or how I can fix this I would be grateful thanks.

if it's a mobile try running a ground wire from the case of the radio to a solid common ground point on the vehicle (to avoid ground loops) .

I think we need to know a bit more about this rig - model, mobile or home, etc.

There's no way any mic should be getting hot. The shock you report my just be RF due to poor antenna configuration, but for safety's sake I wouldn't operate it until we know if it's mains or 12v powered!
