Someone to carry out diagnostic

I need some help with my Drake L-4B, I think the power supply needs updating or repairing.

Can anyone help, or recommend someone to me

Many thanks

Did you ever get it sorted ?

I have a non radio PSU on my bench. I reckon it will cost a gorilla to repalce, given the crappy aussie exchange rate, but I also probably have a 5% chance of fixing it.

All potted in some goop, surface mounted components and no chip numbers. Fuse gone. Bridge Rectifier is OK. not short, but low impedance on the promary V+ to 0V
I'll be calling the overseas supplier tonight

Yes

I did it myself using the Harbach kit. Amp works perfect now, good for 1200w on 11m and about 1500 on 20m

Niiiiice :-)

With my PSU, I hit up the supplier for a replacement. I need to remove a bunch of filter toroids to get the switching FETs and even then I have no guarantees. If you get flashover to the gate, you take out the driver chips and no chance of working out what they are without some extensive research.

But I did find a locally sourced sub $100 25A @12.8-15V PSU when loooking for possible alternatives.

:-)
