New freebander from Madrid
Hello to all
Just to intruduce myself as new in freebanding. My name is Juan, 30fb001, QTH Madrid, Spain.
Im 49 years old, Im married and we have two boys.
Im have been in radio since long time ago, since I was a youngster. Mainly my activity is QRP, and due to antenna restrictions in the building where Im living, I speed a lot of time reading about atennas.
This is my web page:
http://www.murihome.net/30lo2625/
Just added a freebanding link/banner. Dave, I didnt ask your permision to add the banner in my web, just let me know if you want it to be removed.
I love MAG LOOP antennas, you can google for magloop or magnetic loop and youll find many examples. This is my poormans magloop (Sorry, text in spanish but pictures will be self explanatory...)
http://www.murihome.net/30lo2625/loop/
Just take and old TV coax, two and a half meters, and make a tunable antena from 10 to 20 meters. No variable capacitor, instead, a fixed few centimeters of coax, for a fixed frecuency.
This is my shack:
http://www.murihome.net/30lo2625/000_0035.JPG
Again, a poormans shack. :-)
A FT-817 and a all mode two meters rig with a transverter from TOKY HY-POWER. AlL HF bands in a two meters rig ;-)
I told you Im a QRP man. Sometimes I do portable with my bike:
http://www.murihome.net/30lo2625/b.jpg
The red coke tap, thats my antenna tunner. A variable capacitor in series with a toroid inductance. The meter and a half whip can be tuned from 10 to 15 meters, poor performance but the trick is to get good place where to transmit.
Last, but not least important. Due to my QRP operation, you can find me working PSK (BPSK31). Have a look on 27.500. USB.
Please forgive my bad spelling or gramatical errors, you know, Im thinking in spanish and then I have to translate into english...

Re: New freebander from Madrid
Yes, I hope to hear you too.
No problem in 21 meters for me, but only 30 watts output. About 6.6 or 3.4 its not possible for me, as I have no aerial for those bands, I can only send you rx reports via cluster ...

Re: New freebander from Madrid
Hi Juan - welcome to the forum.
I was particularly interested to hear of your BPSK-31 activities as I also use this mode.
I'll listen out on 27.500 sometimes for any activity.

Re: New freebander from Madrid
Juan, we must give it a go soon but tonight is a bit busy for me.
Do you have access to any other frequencies besides 11m?
