sounds nice keith, ive been thinkin of getting rid of my 706mk2g to get something a bit more homebase. The extra out power is also a handy thing as you wouldnt really ned a amp, hhmmmmm best i start looking

sorry jim i just reread your post only ft1000d's are 200watts
paddy a lovely radio altough getting on in years they are still highly sought after,mines 100% a class condition,you never know if something else takes my fancy??

How to open up a FT1000d, very easy indeedy, no wires, diodes, transistors to cut or solder, dont even need to remove the lid
Switch off the radio
press and hold FAST + LOCK
POWER ON while holding FAST + LOCK
Press FAST + ENTER to get into the menu
Turn MEM/VFO CH to get to 9-x
Check 9-9 it may show 11 or uSA
Turn the VFO-knob to make the dial read GEn
Press Ent
Now you can transmit on 11meters or on 8.2MHz or MARS.
