They are the FDB Gary brilliant mics. I'm pretty sure the Silver Eagle is badged as such, the D104 (Which mine is) is not a Silver Eagle as such. emoticon Clear as mud emoticon

The D104 has a painted base, not chrome, no engraving and no base keyer. I bought mine for £30 including postage from the States emoticon

Good choice a must for every shack, but keep it a secret or they'll all want one emoticon

Intresting!!! Also have one with the TUp9 Base in a matt black finish with base key, the long silver shaft with the key on the side with the slide up lock.Plus two D104 heads 1 pure silver and the other silver with the front outer rim in matt black the same as the base???? Both heads are the lolly pop head but with no engraving of the eagle on the back of both? Both heads have the official Astatic sticker on the top of the heads along with the base plus the microphone lay out of the wireing diagram when you screw the base off to put the battery in..Any ideas on this 1????

I know this is abit of a old thread but came across this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astatic_Corporation
http://www.west-techservices.com/p15.htm

http://www.jt30.com/jt30page/oldsite/micids/astid.html
I also have a Astatic microphone who make all the D104 models, which I found out are no longer in production since 2001. I have a 1104C-M which I have been told is the same as the old Astatic Teardrop mobile mike but in a base mike body owned for 25years+ and still working fine, also another bit of info saying about copy's a mate brought a D104 Siver Eagle(2nd hand) not knowing it was a copy wondered why it didn't sound like everyone goes on about so took it to a another mates who had one of them scopes that set the mike to the radio cant remember what there called any way found out the mike was a Japan(Asian) copy full of inferior parts so beware if you get one offered cheap and if they say its brand new from factory cos they supposedly not made any more

Just came across this thread, here's mine below, Astatic D104 T-UP9. They are great mikes, heavy quality and speaker shaking audio if set up with your rig properly, Americans love to sound big on air and on AM so they use these, they go loud without distorting. I've seen them recently for £50 to £70. There is a specific SSB head for them too which I am still looking for called the 10-DA if anybody has one for sale let me know.

Thats exactly what my mate had back in the old AM days it used out performe all with his mod, the doggys dangleys they are. I remember one time when I was at his house we was on the CB just talking to our mates when one of our mates siad to us on your last over I can hear like water bubbling noise while your talking so my mate siad your hearing things to him so ask can you hear it still yes came the reply so after pra**ing about looking for this noise thought well what is it only to fined out that the mike was so sensetive it was picking up the water pump motor on my mates fish tank on the other side of the room so there good mikes emoticon as for the SSB head I've only ever seen two in the flesh as such in all the years on CB(over 30)that was in our old local CB shop and they was in a glass case next to a silver eagle and a golden eagle which none of them got sold
