everyone to there own, ive had many radios over the years including the Icom 706 mk2 and 706 mk2G, i dont rate the 706's as good performance wise as the 857D, sure they are more expensive, sure they have a few more features, but when it comes down to how well they work, they dont work as well as the 857D, ive still got the 857D in question, the 706s have been long gone.

Best little radio you will have , i own an FT897D and the FT857D but the little one has a far better receiver so for mobile use give me the [sign in to see URL] you change the third menu it give's you 130 watts .

I wouldnt really advise turning the power up as the radio isnt really capable of dispersing the extra heat, This can lead to the P.A failing. Besides the extra 30 watts isnt really noticable on the air.

Bear in mind that power transistors are expensive. emoticon
