i expect i may find myself heading for the hills .my fav spot of the month is 8 mins from my gaff and 200m high. shame my valve amps broken but it may be ok on [sign in to see URL] got a delay fault on ssb. whats the calling frequency for am day? cheers tone

For information, we are calling on channel 14, the old non-trucker breaking channel.
"1-4 for a copy using AM" might be a suitable call. emoticon Callsigns or handles are in use - it doesn't matter.

If possible dig out an old AM or multimode rig for old times' sake rather than an amateur rig.

As for holding a contact, I'd say it's OK to continue this on the old breaking channel 14 unless someone is already there - this way there's more chance of another station hearing you and breaking in, forming a net.
(Tends to be a bit dead down my way so this practice would work better here - if nothing else, you then know there's someone else about.)

Antennas: The bigger the better, but a mobile one would do if nothing else is available.

There is a power limit though, and I believe that has been set at 10KW.emoticon
