Im thinking of going there in a couple of weeks for a day of Dx, anyone ever been down that way know any good spots in the area? Im thinking about making a wire atenna for the trip, anyone got anytips for an 11m wire? as i'll only be using a sirio 4000 with a magmount.

Re: Polhdu Cove Cornwall
You'll still need the height, whatever aerial you decide on height is the key

Re: Polhdu Cove Cornwall
The area down that way is pretty flat so anywhere out of the way would do - hardly any big hills to get in the way.
I'd personally go to the Lizard Point and park at the higher end of the lighthouse car park. There is a National Trust fee of about a fiver for the day but if you join you get the season free.
Maybe take a good ol' half wave dipole (GP27) and four 1.5 metre interlocking aluminium poles and set the thing up against the hedge with guy ropes - ask the car park attendant for permission. Or just use an 8'6" whip on the car if you don't want to be so obvious.
There is some pretty secluded farmland back past Mullion to the east of the main road, and stuff can be attached to gate posts pretty easily if you have the necessary hardware such as large jubilee clips.
I suppose you could ask to use one of the dishes at Goonhilly?? OK, perhaps not.
I'll be down there again for a week in August.
