The Band was Beyond Open..lol

Dxing lately has been getting better everyday but on May 29,2011 it was down right freaky!
The frequency was jammed but not just with our normal skip shooters but stations in area's we would never be able to get to.
Plus I would make a shout and have a dozen stations come back to me from everywhere. We would not just make contacts but continue for hours to have full converstions.
A friend of mine in Jersey has a get a way place in W.V. and he made a contact to a neighbor in W.V ( which we never here in Jersey) and had a full converstaion.
It was strange but fantastic!!!
Anyone else experience these conditions?

.

I can't comment on 11Meters, but last night (This Morning - Friday 3/6) from 0030 UTC to 0530 UTC, I worked more than 40 Countries on 14 Mhz all getting reports of over 5 and 9 + from me. and all with a fairly non-resonant 18ft vertical, with no radials !!

PY2, PY4, W0, K8, VE3, W6, KE5, NA4, KI4, 4Z5, KP4, XE1, CM2, 9K2, VE7. Plus all the 'Local' QRM around the EU !! Farthest contacts were PY2DY in Sao Paulo, Brazil, XE1UYS in Vera Cruz, Mexico, and VE7WY Vancouver Canada.

I was particularly pleased to have a long chat, with a friend I hadn't spoken to for over 15 years, since I was last active - Abdullah, 9K2GS in Kuwait City.

There really was a great opening last night, but through the day so far, now (1330 UTC), both 7 & 14 Mhz seem to be 'dead' - you never can tell with this hobby !! Many Amateurs were commenting on how good conditions were !!

73's

John

Yes this is on 11 meters and the skip is still booming in. Another thing that is alittle weird.
I have been dxing for 30 years or more and when the sun comes up the band opens and when the sun sets it tends to go away.
Not lately. It has been completely backwards. So dead quiet during the day I have actually had to ask for a radio check thinking something was wrong with my radio.
But when the sun starts setting the fun starts and the skip starts bounding in...
I speak to Grenada in the west indies everyday with the same gentleman.

It is great!!!!!
