Just bought one, the v3 and should be here on friday. Just wanted a small radio for the car and possibly hill topping, after reading lots of good reports and hearing a few on air it seemed the perfect choice, for now anyway - did read that they are bringing out a new 100w version before long!

Re: Yeticom Optima

Got it this morning, straight into the shack and 11m was dead, nothing not even a local to try it. Came in had breakfast and went out armed with a brew, only one I could hear was 195SD105 David WI, first call came back to me with a 5/5 5/9 with great audio. Its a tiny radio and the mic is just to small and doesnt feel right but it seemed to work really well. 50w out the back, small, light enough for portable work (in the summer!) and a tag of £[sign in to see URL] brand new and delivered next day, very pleased so far, be mobile sunday testing it out some more.

Hello Al,

I look forward to talking to you on the Optima. I'd never part with mine.

I met Paul FB696 up at my usual dx-location and he had one installed in the van too.

Hello Paul btw.

Re: Yeticom Optima

Hi again John, didnt hear you yesterday for some reason but I was up and down working quite a bit of dx so would have been easy to miss anyone. Am still waiting to get to have a proper go with the Optima, have still only had 2 contacts with it, 195 and a local but it worked well with both. Size wise its great to, will have little trouble finding somewhere to put that in the mobile and light enough to put in my bag for portable/hilltopping in the spring-summer. Very pleased so far
Theres a lot of arguments over the v2, v2.5 or v3 but whatever mine is (its a v3, I think) it works
Catch you soon mate

No worries Al. The band was in really good shape on Sunday with lots of contacts to be had.

I think mine is the 2.5.

Catch you soon Al.
