Digital modes on Freeband

Hi Folks, I've been looking at some software like MIXW, where you can connect the transceiver to the soundcard of a PC (using MIC and SPEAKER connections on transceiver) and the software generates tones so you can transmit modes like BPPSK31, OLIVIA, RTTY, and even Slowscan TV and FAX.
Is anyone trying any of this on Freeband, or Echo Charlie? The Olivia mode looks really good, as the program can filter out tones that are burried way down in the noise by several DB and you can do DXing and get clear copy beyond what you could normally hear. I'm currently building an interface cable between pc and transceiver, so would be interested if someone else was doing any of this to test it out with.

Sounds good.
BPSK31 is probably the best bet for a quick link-up as the trace is easily found and centred on.

Olivia is excellent for getting through at low signal strengths but is a bit trickier to use, and text transmission rates are a bit slow if the conditions are good, when a faster mode would be better - it all depends how fast you can type I suppose, I can more or less keep ahead of the buffer on BPSK31, but that's not the case with everyone.

I thought that BPSK31 had a recognised slot on 11m, but can't find any reference to it on the web.

Anyone know about this?

27500 or 27505 is mostly used for digi modes on 11m. And SSTV is 27700 mostly emoticon

Thanks for the reply Hot Fusion
Let me know if you or anyone knows of a specific freq used on 11m for BPSK31
I'm still in process of getting SWR down good enough to work on 11m, and I'm also having a bit of a problem sorting out the interface I built that goes betweek the PC and the transceiver for transmitting BPSK31, But once I get these two things sorted out I'll be ready to try it out if you or anyone else wants to try out some time on 11m

Thanks for the reply about the frequencies. I'll start listening on those. Ive given up on getting swr down on my multiband antenna for 11m, and started building a purpose built ground plane for 11m. Got the RX side of my interface working good, just have to finish the tx side. Probably be another couple of weeks before I can play.

let us know when you are ready, although I have to make some changes this end for 11m as my current digimode rig is ham bands only. Only a case of altering some connections, but I have to actually get around to doing it. emoticon

I would really like to try Olivia too, 1000Hz wide, 32 tones. I have found by experiment that this 'flavour' of Olivia is pretty much the most robust and reliable, but text transmission is a little slow so be prepared for an hour or two on the radio if there are a few of us there.

Are you up for Olivia on 6.6?
Using this frequency will allow UK-wide coverage, and we could use a non-standard spec to make interception a bit more difficult. emoticon
