A bit of advise on useing my KLV amp


I know I should this but for some reason the brain has gone numb emoticon right I have my old RM KLV 200/V amp and it say on ssb input 1to 20 watts max now my new SS3900EL is putting out 25watts SSB will this over drive my amp and is there a way to control the output(I have no vary watt switch) I am sure if my old brain remembers I was told you just turn the mike gain down to not over drive it when on SSB is this true
most apprciated for any help forgetfull

yes turning the mic gain down will lower the output, although i would think when talkin on SSB you are hardly peaking the radio at 25wattts on normal talk, maybe a whistle would peak 25wattts but normal talk i wouldnt think would. If it was me i would run the 25 in to it on SSB. AM/FM would be a different story as its a constent carrier

Thanks topbuzzuk for the advise I think it will be OK on the AM/FM mode cos the radio is only putting out 8 watts doing that and it sayes 1to10 watt input on AM/FM, Iwas just worried about the SSB really, as I've had this KLV for a long time without any probs and I didnt want to kill it by doing somthing wrong
