Audio equipment

Got myself some audio kit, a Behringer mixer and a Shure SM58 mic. Just waiting for the leads, plugs and stuff to arrive emoticon

I have no idea how to set it up, I know how the hardware goes together, I think, but I cant hear myself, can I? So I need to use someone else to help, but then its down to their opinion of it, which might be different to mine. Also its down to their own speakers etc. Oh well trial and error I suppose :?

I'm looking for that deep warm basey sound you hear sometimes from stations like 35AT160, Peter and 15DX015, Marco, what do yer reckon? emoticon

Re: Audio equipment

..u still need a nice graphic equaliser Yamanx to get that bassy sound - you might be able to tweak it on the desk but its better with a graphic.

a mixer makes the job easier but i just used a compressor and a graphic in line with my audio in on the EDX.

are you using the icom?

give me all the details of the gear and ill try and knock up a wiring diagram for you and repost it here.

I can get a Phonic 31 band Peq3300 single channel equaliser for the right money. Would this do the job? Theres a 2 x 15 channel stereo one for the same money as well if it any better?

I cant afford it this month, as I'm spent up for the minute, but if its the right piece of kit I'll order it for April emoticon

Re: Audio equipment

a single 31 would be favouirite, but at least with the 2 x 15 jobbie you could use one side for transmit, one side to clean up recieve!
up to you

Re: Audio equipment

This is not going to be easy.

I have it all installed and working, but I sound crap.

I set it all up and to give me some idea of what knob does what I put it through a speaker, I set the three band equaliser to 0. in fact everything on 0.

Managed to enlist the grateful help of Graham 26TM033, as he's not too far from me. And I played around with the controls, I thought I tried every which way and still sound crap. When I finally got some half decent audio, I was too quiet, turn up the input gain, crap, turn up the output gain crap. I just couldnt get it set to work even half as good as the standard mic.

Now I know this mic is the business, and I know the mixing console should co the job. But how on earth am I going to set it up?

OK, got myself a Graphi Equaliser, its only a 2 x ten band Realistic but should do the job emoticon

Got them all at zero. I suppose its a case of trial and error, with some help from others emoticon

I'm trying to register at global DXers, as I should be able to work myself, with a delay.
