Re: Half a Harley Davidson (",) I would be interested to see that Harley once its completed
My next bike project is something thats been itching away for years. Now I have finally decided to build it. I did build something similar about 25 years ago for a laugh, but it was scruffy and ended up blown to bits on the 1/4 mile and dumped (Stupid things you do eh?). Actually is quite a funny story.
Anyway I'm going to build a Board Track Racer, Harley owners in recent years have took a lot of the styling from this period (1906-1930) to build what chopper builders call "Bobbers". But I'm not into choppers, but race bikes, so I want to build an American style racer from the early 20th century.
Of course an old Harley motor would be ideal, but they sell for many thousands of pounds. Recently an early Indian Board Track Bike (Known as "Boardies") sold for £137,000! No kidding!
So I'm probably going to use a Honda CG125 donor bike. They're still cheap at about £150 as a wreck, seeing as I never want to ride it on the road, this shouldn't be a problem.
Now you're into Harley's you should check out some of the early history, it is amazing, 100mph average laps in 1912!
This is the inspiration for the look of the bike.
If you've got a spare half hour, check out board track racing history on the internet, awesome stuff!

Wow, wouldn't like to ride it too far, a trip to IOM would be interesting
Makes my flat tracker effort look a bit lame, I'll finish it by Sunday if the last couple of bits arrive tomorrow, I'll put up some pics, but its not of this standard.
