What frequencies on my ss6900n?

Hello all,
As I'm a noob to fee banding I was just wondering what the best frequencies I should start off wit in my 6900? It has 7 bands of 60 frequencies I can program I'm keeping one band for fm/cb and the radio can do from 25 ish up to 30. It came with 40 programmed in each band and mostly they're in 10k steps ie [sign in to see URL] [sign in to see URL] etc i can move the tuning step on the clarifier from 10hz 100hz 1khz and 10khz which is fine for tuning but when scaning the programmed frequencies seem a bit coarse, should I reprogram so the channels are 5khz apart ie [sign in to see URL]?
I know it's a balancing act between the amount of coarseness/frequencies I can scan/program and the amount of bandwidth I can cover so I was just after any views on the best place to start for the most action!! All comments gratefully received! Ps probably b using mostly USB?
Will. 26 Hertfordshire.

Hi Will, yes I would program for 5khz steps, as you'll use less of the 11m band than you think emoticon

Cheers! Any thoughts on which areas of the band I should cover in those steps? I'm sure I've heard I shouldn't realy stray above [sign in to see URL]? (Ham territory?)
And how low or are there any parts worth skipping altogether? I'm sort of aiming around [sign in to see URL] a centre point, maybe I should just play and find out!!!

Also is it worth going any finer than 5khz like 1khz? Aren't the uk fm cb channels 1 k apart? I'm just thinking I could miss a lot ?

1khz is good, but try 27555 USB as this is the main calling frequency.

From there as a centre point you would normally go up to 27795 and down to 26200 (Ish), in 5khz steps normally, although when its very busy some stations use 577 for instance, there is another main calling frequency on 26285, but its usually only used when the band is very busy.

UK FM CB frequencies are different again, you can look those up, but depending on where you are will depend on the usage and the mental stability of the users emoticon You'll see what I mean when you listen there.

Perfect, just the info I was after.
I've been cbing for years and certainly know what u mean about some of the "operators"!! I was just using the Chanel spacings as an example.
Time to get the calculator out and work out what I can squeeze into the rig I've got for the best band coverage versus scanning potential!
Thanks again, a great help emoticon

Right,i recon ive sussed it.
I can get from [sign in to see URL] to [sign in to see URL] in 5khz steps on bands A to E then i can have the uk fm 40 on F just incase the rig goes mobile.I hope thats a good place to start??
i worked out the spacings/blocks on a spreadsheet but the software wont let you coppy and paste so 360 frequencies have got to go in by hand!!!!! i think id better save that file when im done!!
