Just Starting Up.
In your experience, what would the forum recommend as a decent reliable budget radio to get me up and running?

Re: Just Starting Up.
Really depends on what your plan is.
If its 11m DXing, 27mghz calling from 27555, then a superstar 3900, power supply and a, say, Sirio Gainmaster or 827 as high as you can get it, would work perfect as a start-up set up. You would be able to work EU during the summer E layer prop (Going on now on and off) and even into 2 div when theres some propagation (skip), which is common at the moment.
It would need some patience and a bit of persistence, but you would have a lot of fun using this as a start-up, and if you then want to expand its still a good 11m set up.
You could go for a more powerful radio, something like a Galaxy, but you would also need a bigger power supply.
If your plan is HF or ham, then you’ll need different and more expensive gear.

Re: Just Starting Up.
Thanks for that Yamanx1, going to have a quick look on the internet now for some prices, but will have to be careful re the antenna mounting due to neighbours.
Re the power supply, I have one I used on a CB a long while ago, top of my head it was 13.8v, I will have to check but would that suffice for the Superstar?
