any one remember the nato 2000 ? I need help
Hi guys I have a old nato 2000 that did just about work but I have came to a problem now, inside the radio looking down on the board from the speaker side there is a raided board with 2 chips that push into holders , think of the top of my head they have about 14 legs on them, what are these to chips called ? I need to replace them . I think one works the fm bands and the other ssb or blocks ! , imight be able to load a picture of this soon but I was hoping someone might remember theses chips im talking about, I think someone once said its bleep board but unsure becase it has another small board with a relay on it on the other side us that the bleep board ! . I rather try and get this old rig going again instead of scrapping it so come on guys lets see what info I can get , btw these chips are about 4cm long 1 cm wide black and one has iam 57042d on it it has 14 legs. Thanks guys tim fb801

There basically dummy chips, These two ic's were the ones you swapped over to give all band and all mode coverage ... This was there way in making the radio seem legal and to get around customs.. Its basically the same radio as the Superstar 2000 and the superstar 2200... here is the full service manual for these radio's it should help you..

Re: any one remember the nato 2000 ? I need help
Hi mark thanks for that , hopefully I can locate the right component to go in it, at present with one of the original chips in place in either holder the radio is almost mute on speaker sound and dont tx output, relay tx and receive works so dose the bleep, something just keeps saying in my head this chip has failed or the othe one it did have that I have lost is the one that did not want to be thrown away !! Hopfully some one will have a nato 2000 like mine and confirm what should be in mine, thanks again mark .
