Yaesu FT1000D gone deaf on 11m

As the title says, my ft1000d has gone more or less stone deaf on 11m but 40m is fine with stations still booming in, it seems to be getting out fine on all bands though. S meter is not working on any band either on receive - but fine on transmit.
Any ideas what went wrong?

Wow, things just got worse, a lot worse emoticon
So, my FT1000D went deaf on 10, 11, 12 and maybe more bands but fine on 40, 80 but it was left as I had my new TS590 to play with, well you`ll never guess whats happened now! Oh well done for those that said your 590 has gone deaf on the same bands! Who`d have thought it?
Well after reading up on the net this can happen and has a few times to people in competions - that have other radios on near there radio, like I have been doing in the shack. Seems they dont like it and tend to blow stuff!
On a lighter note I have just noticed that Geoff at Castle Electronics is not as far away as I`d thought, mid Wales rather than S wales so its a trip down there one day pretty soon.
Thats a lesson learned the hard way emoticon
Could have been worse, could always be worse.

Hi Al

Sounds like it could be RF. If you run with a bit power that can cause all sorts of wierd and wonderfull thing to happen. If you have your 590's config backed up, do a reset, if that is the problem then it should sort it out.
If not i hope its not serious

Re: Yaesu FT1000D gone deaf on 11m

Ok I remembered something I did now emoticon
Was wondering if my FT1000d was tx`ing, so, hearing a strong station from 2 div I called him using the ft1000d but being a deaf radio on 11m, I had the A99 plugged into the ts590 to hear him reply to me, which he did, so I was pleased that the ft100d was tx`ing, was shortly after this I noticed the 590 was also deaf.
Only remembered this when telling a friend on the air then I just sat there and let it sink in what I`d done, a stupid mistake on my part, lets hope its not to costly.
Still not sure how the FT1000d went deaf but this would explain the 590

Thanks Rab, have not looked into backing anything up, you need it connected to computer I suppose to do this? Have downloaded the software but not installed it yet.

Yes Al,
it's not hard to do once you have the program installed, i think you can do it few a couple of programs. We always had some sort of backup at the club for obvious reasons, and now we have three pro 3's its even easier.
Hope you get all sorted

Well I now have 1 radio up and running, my TS480 has had new multi switch fitted and jobs a goodun!
1 down, 2 to go. At £20 for the 480 I`ll bet thats gonna be the cheapest fix as well!
Still not got round to installing the software on the computer Rab, was waiting to see if my run of bad luck had finished before fiddling with the new laptop! Wow 3 Pro 3s, bet thats a nice sightemoticon

Hi
Yes it is Al, 3 Pro3's, 3 Acom's and all networked
with 3 computers. Will get some pics on sunday and upload them.
Every station is identical, just dedicated to different bands.
It's like musical chairs on a sunday afternoon

I like to get there early, about eight or nine, then hang on till about six or seven.
You should give GM6NX site a lookup, we got a couple of nice antenna's i could'nt even get in my garden, we are all very lucky where we are situated. Don't think there is another club in Scotland like it, anyway hope you have no more radio problems exept keeping your log up to date.... emoticon

Had a quick look at the website Rab, its not as I imagined it to be at all mate. It seems like they want to include everyone, licenced or not and that they enjoy radio! Not at all like my local club. The word "FUN" was also spotted a few times - a word the local club wouldnt remember. I only went twice to the club and never seen a radio, just a group of oldies drinking at the bar - which I can do very well on my own lol.
Seems there are some really good clubs up and down, shame ours isnt one of them
Photos are always good Rab
