I have started a winter project, the first part is complete. The Moxon is now tuned for 14.225, when I first put it up it tuned for 13.825. I had to re calculate at 14.625 to have it resonant at a height of 12 mtr. I planned the frame work so it that it may be possible to use 40 mtr as well for a Portable station. It will be a biggy, with a length of 14.8mtr on 1 side. If any one has any views or ideas on this, let me know. I have built several for 10 and 11 mtr, these give SWR 1.5 or better from 27.300 to 28.600 without re tuning and work pretty well at around 6 mtrs or more in the air.

HI Thanks for the comment. Everything I make has to go into the car and then be set up wherever there is space. It is all made in the Kitchen. The boom is 5.8 mtrs long. My garden is only 20ft x 20ft. Takes a bit of planning, but is fun and get a good sense of satisfaction when it all goes well.

HI Big Cheese
Here is a download that I use for calculations. very easy to use.
Moxgen rectangle calculator
Put in the frequency and wire diameter, click the right hand side for feet or meters. I use 12 gauge wire and on 14.225mhz it was 400khc too low and had to shorten everything with a 14.625 setting. I haven't put anything up for 40 as yet, so don't know how much trimming there will be. The boom is 1 1/4 or 32mm 16swg ally, the middle and end plates are 65mm x 220mm x 8mm. To make teh bend, allow enough for the boom and fixing bracket, make a small cut of about 2mm across at the point you want to bend it, i did it in a vice. You will want a boom of about 6mtr and should be ok with 5mtr fihing poles for the spreaders. I have run up to 800 watts through them and it has been fine. Gives a good front to back rejection and nulls out nearly everything on the side of it. Any questions on anything about them, I will try to help, with email and pictures or design tips. Andy

Just a quick post to close the topic on the 20/40 mtr Moxon. I looked at a 40 mtr build, but it is just too big for me to manage on my own as a Portable station. Maybe one day as a Homebase if I move and have the room.
