What frequency/band are you looking at? I'm assuming 11m, in which case you've already had a good answer: basically a daytime band, best in the winter months but summer can offer short-term events via the 'E' layer of distances up to several hundred miles, but it really is sporadic - the conditions could remain for an hour or two, or be gone in minutes. First clue of such conditions for us lot down in the south west are hearing scottish or irish accents on the CB, then you know it's all happening. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Hot Fusion)Thu, 25 Jun 2015 16:32:49 +0000 Re: Best times for DXhttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p26752,from=rss#post26752https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p26752,from=rss#post26752Interesting reading, jogged my memory, the link is useful to know, think i'll be using it a good amount.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kestral8)Wed, 17 Jun 2015 23:16:40 +0000 Re: Best times for DXhttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p25954,from=rss#post25954https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p25954,from=rss#post25954quote:jhzgto wrote: Hi Chaps, After a break of 30+ years, my old brain is rusty & I can't remember when I had the best results. This winter there should be reasonable conditions as we are at or at least just after, the peak of the cycle.nondisclosed_email@example.com (yamanx1)Mon, 16 Jun 2014 07:40:36 +0000 Re: Best times for DXhttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p25444,from=rss#post25444https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p25444,from=rss#post25444Great, many thanks for that. I don't remember ever doing much in the winter months, is there any or does it die a death at the end of autumn ? johnnondisclosed_email@example.com (jhzgto)Fri, 13 Jun 2014 17:57:58 +0000 Re: Best times for DXhttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p25424,from=rss#post25424https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p25424,from=rss#post25424Summer season, or E layer prop is active on 11m atm. It works best during daylight hours and particularly "grey line" or dusk. However is is known as sporadic E and it is very sporadic Autumn time will see the the longer DX start, when the E layer subsides a bit.nondisclosed_email@example.com (yamanx1)Wed, 11 Jun 2014 13:39:54 +0000 Best times for DXhttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p25419,from=rss#post25419https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p25419,from=rss#post25419Hi Chaps, After a break of 30+ years, my old brain is rusty & I can't remember when I had the best results.
