dxing on the cut


hi all have not posted on hear for a while I would like to know what would be a good antenna for working on a narrowboat I only use 11ms atm I use a mobile whip on a magmout on the hull at present but would something that is easy to put up after mooring up for the night and would store on the cabin roof during the day the reason I don,t put the magmout on the cabin roof is because it is wooden cabin metal hull thanks in avance for eny answers 73s andy emoticon

Depends on what mounting you can get away with,I'm not really up to speed with whats available commercially now but an Antron 99 would be a good bet or maybe a Boomerang 1/4 wave . Just make sure its not possible for any voltages to leak through the hull LOL.

Mmm , I used an antenna called a skylab similar to the one in the picture back in 1980 and as with the 5/8th shown with the radial's neither would be practicable in the OP's situation IMHO . Something nice and simple is whats needed.

thanks for the replys some food for thought that mount as you say could be adapted for boat use and would store on the roof when not in use emoticon

Stick an A99 or Imax up there. Easy to put up and take down..5min job

I would NOT recommend the A99 but thats upto you but first you should read this.

My god,get over that vid. A99 have been sold around the world for 30yrs,I've worked the world on one in the past....you will be telling me it's a dummy load next..
