Like you, I was a disillusioned radio amateur long ago, and over the years I've messed around on many bands from, UHF down to VLF (yes! through the ground!), but most of my time was spent on Echo Charlie (45m). I think I'll have to stoke up one of my old Tx's and get back into the swing of things! I found some software that enables the rig to transmit between the amateur bands. Just need a linear now.nondisclosed_email@example.com (handy67)Sun, 18 May 2008 18:20:38 +0000 Re: Hi All I'm new herehttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p2316,from=rss#post2316https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p2316,from=rss#post2316hi old man?? welcome back to the darkside??? nondisclosed_email@example.com (26fb139)Sun, 18 May 2008 10:32:30 +0000 Re: Hi All I'm new herehttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p2301,from=rss#post2301https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p2301,from=rss#post2301Welcome to the site Ian nondisclosed_email@example.com (yamanx1)Sat, 17 May 2008 08:01:07 +0000 Re: Hi All I'm new herehttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p2295,from=rss#post2295https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p2295,from=rss#post2295welcome Ian, I am using Superstar 3900 with seperate frequency counter, but I spotted they have just put out the SS158 which is a similar radio but with frequency counter built in, and the new blue display looks cool too!!! happy Dxin' 73s TCnondisclosed_email@example.com (tony147)Fri, 16 May 2008 05:19:09 +0000 Re: Hi All I'm new herehttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p2294,from=rss#post2294https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p2294,from=rss#post2294cobra 148 are cool, i have a mk1 and it works a treat. you may want something with frequency readout though in which case a superstar 3900F or ranger VR9000, SS158 lol theres quiet a few. nondisclosed_email@example.com (topbuzzuk)Thu, 15 May 2008 22:52:40 +0000 Hi All I'm new herehttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p2291,from=rss#post2291https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p2291,from=rss#post2291Hi,   I have been a licensed amateur since 1984 with my roots in HF and 11 Metres. I've been listening around on my Yaesu FT-817 and it's nice to hear 11 metres SSB again after 25 or so years. I'm looking for rig recommendations please. Maybe a Cobra 148 GTL DX? 73, Ian G1###nondisclosed_email@example.com (handy67)Thu, 15 May 2008 21:43:32 +0000
