Help!

Hi,

I am interested in getting into freebanding. I currently have a midland alan 78 plus. Can I use this rig? I also have a handheld Intek H527. This has a frequency counter on the display. I am unsure as to how I can reach specific frequencies, ie: [sign in to see URL]. Any help would be great!

Thanks in advance!

Re: Help!

tommy. take a look at the frequency allocations for the other countries and you may well be able to contact those countries on the fcc 40 (or new legals). please please dont use fm on [sign in to see URL] - it wipes us all [sign in to see URL] a rule, the 555 is for ssb only BUT some people do use FM and makes life hell for the rest of us! As i seem to recall, giving a call out on fm on any channel on the mids ([sign in to see URL]) will get you some european action if you are patient and the skip is running.
i had many good contacts on FM into holland, sweden, denmark and france and germany all on FM on the mids. You may also find some fm calling above [sign in to see URL]. Another good place to look (if your rig goes down that far) is 26mhz and up - quite a few eastern bloc countries use a 40 channel allocation in this band, all using fm.

If it Aint broke, don't fix it, and if you do, don't tell anyone you touched it
