Cost 80 AUD all up (55 Pounds), antenna was $30 and shipping the rest. Has marks on each section where to slide out and fasten, which were spot on when I put it up. SWR at 1.3 and no adjusting needed. It works ok, but I got a second hand 3 element yagi at the same time which I use for DXing. Silver Rod gets used now and then for local stuff. Works fine and handled some strong winds here no problems. Good value antenna.nondisclosed_email@example.com (43FB065)Sat, 11 Feb 2012 08:21:05 +0000 Re: Silver Rod 1/2 wavehttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p12122,from=rss#post12122https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p12122,from=rss#post121225/8 has a noticable gain over a 1/2 wave due to the lower angle of radiation, its well documented and worth the £3 difference in price.. . . ..ps,stick some 1/4 wave radials on at 45 degrees and youre onto a great antenna!! (but the sigma 4 is still the daddy)!! nondisclosed_email@example.com (26fb010)Fri, 12 Feb 2010 21:48:26 +0000 Re: Silver Rod 1/2 wavehttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p10210,from=rss#post10210https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p10210,from=rss#post10210But you must not believe the gain figure its just 1.5dBd at best just like all other 5/8. Works best if mounted at least its own height above ground, that being a half wave, or about 18 feet, and ideally keep the antenna well away from the de-tuning effect of buildings and trees - once again its own length represents a good minimum. Tuning is a bit time consuming as it is accomplished by sliding sections in or out to alter the overall length, and after each adjustment you must put the antenna back into position to test the tuning. However, once set and tightened up it is a tough and reliable antenna.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Hot Fusion)Mon, 29 Dec 2008 20:00:09 +0000 Silver Rod 1/2 wavehttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p4193,from=rss#post4193https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p4193,from=rss#post41931/2 wave Silver Rod Gain: 4.2 DB Impedance: 50 Ohms SWR: 1.3.1 at centre Power: 1000 Watts Frequency: 26-28 Mhznondisclosed_email@example.com (yamanx1)Tue, 18 Nov 2008 10:09:56 +0000
