Re: Callsigns

Well done indeed. emoticon

Choose your call carefully, and have a few extra choices ready in case your favourite one has been taken.

Take into account how it'll sound using the phonetic alphabet, and if you are into CW, what it's like to send.

I'd suggest trying for your call on Tuesday or Wednesday - probably not worth bothering before then.

yes i agree with that andy, i hear some folks who give out callsign every over. for instance www is a mouthful to say every minit. I tried gettin my own from ofcom but ended up with 1 of their suggestions, it rolled off the tongue a lot easier than my choice would have.

Yes - I thought all that crap about how to use a calculator was just confusing the issue.

Goddammit, just give us the forulae and let US sort out how to operate the bleddy calculator - the whole thing would make a lot more sense then.

First off a BIG pat on the back and a WTG for those passing their tests!! It's definitely NOT easy!

While some old timers say it's just to "keep out the riff-raff" that's bull because there's riff-raff in all walks of life.

But by studying and passing the test it's great to know you made the effort to learn the rules and regs as well as learn antennas, propagation, and procedure.

The next thing you know you are working Australia, Pitcarin Island, and the Far East and the QSL's count for awards!

You guys ROCK!!!
