Re: OMG crazy prices
I know, I have one here not used, even have the box all as new, tempted to try it on my kenwood, dont know what it would work like on that? As I keep getting good reports on audio I dont want to touch anything on it really though. But if I sold it, it would be a good chunk towards a Heil mic or simillar.

Re: OMG crazy prices
im sure i seen a mint 1 go for 100 quid not long back. I would of thought kenwood used a pretty good mic element in their hand-mics, i know the icom 706mk2G uses a Heil element in their standard mic. although i stil use a Heil hand-mic on mine, it probably sounds exactly the same(ive never heard it)

Re: OMG crazy prices
I tried the monitor thingy but cant realy tell what it sounds like with that. Can get a good idea of what settings to use to get the gain right but you need to hear it on another radio, and then it wouldnt be your voice! I had a guy from Germany send me an email with a recording of our qso, that was pretty good, but that was using a Lincoln and Astatic mic

Re: OMG crazy prices
The Kenwood monitor is pretty accurate, well the 870 is. If you use headphones you can get a good idea of the audio out

Re: OMG crazy prices
I need to get headphones, I did look at some just before Christmas but the ones I wanted were out of stock, forgot about them since. Need to get some as the zzzzzzzzzz keeps the misses awake! Would be better to monitor with to, better than through the speaker.
