Hello from the West Indies
Hello my name is Almir and my location is the West Indies.
My present call is PTR001 which is the one I used to use many years ago when I was active in packet in the 11 meter band.
After many years being away (my radio interest was SWL) I am back and noticed that the bands are dead.
Most sure due to propagation. But anyhow I wanted to ask if packet is still alive in 11 meters?
I know the frequencies in 26mhz that were used but now there is nothing being heard there.
Maybe it is the propagation or packet has ceased to exist.
I will appreciate to receive any actual information from the European members of this forum for active packet frequencies in the 26 and 27mhz that might help me monitor these specifically.
Best regards to all of you.
Almir PTR001

Welcome Almir, we had some West Indies earlier last year briefly, so this year should be a little better I hope

Re: Hello from the West Indies
Welcome Almir. I've never heard any packet myself but I am active on 27.500 (RTTY, PSK31) and around 27.700 for SSTV.
I also have these frequencies listed but I have not heard much activity on them (probably due to solar minimum).
26.840 LSB Packet-Radio
26.915 SSTV/Packet (German Allocation)
27.295 FM APRS
27.235 SSTV/Packet (German Allocation)
27.500 11m Data Centre of Activity - You may hear CW, PSK, Hellschieber & RTTY.
27.700 USB SSTV (Slow Scan TV) - Many mode used but mainly Martin 1/2 or Scottie 1/2
I hope to speak to you via digimode when the prop allows!
73 and good DX,
Rikki 26BB420

Re: Hello from the West Indies
Hello Almir,
Can confirm that the frequencies are in use here with Packet and in the summer, the SSTV is also very active.
