Hi Guys emoticon seen these radios go for £200-£250 mint in the box in perfect working order without the muppet blue readout,as it should be green.Goto ask yourself who has been inside it & why does it drift? These are good radio's & not known for drifting as far as i am aware.

i did say that i would be looking for a "better" radio after xmas, if i could find a really good one would it be the way to go, i like the price! and feel that it would be a good step up from the 3900, any advise here would be great as i will be entering unknown waters, if there is no built in atu how much more to pay out on one of those and does a radio like that render my rm500 usless when i use 11 meters- to start with i am only interested in setting up to listen to other frequencies as i still need to get my self sorted properly with operating procedures on 11, did that ramble? thanks, kirk.

From a personal point of view I love the IC735, I think its a proper good ham set for HF at the right price. Good introductiuon as it has few of the bells and whistles on it, enough though for a taster emoticon

The power in adjustable so you can use your RM500 no problem if you have a big enough PSU (RM500 will need 40amp one on its own!)

You will need an external ATU if you intend to work accross the HF spectrum. Unless you intend to put an antenna farm up emoticon

The proper ATU for this radio is fully automatic and requies no tuning, but will cost you £90-100 (Keith 26FB139 has one of these for sale atm btw emoticon ) But any manual ATU will do providing its got the correct power rating. Of course your RM500 will need a very big ATU if you intend to use it through the tuner. But I suspect you just want the amp for 11m, which makes sense emoticon

I think the chap selling the one linked on the top post from 11mdx forum is now asking £200 dead. A very good buy and a cracking radio for two hundred quid emoticon Far better I reckon than any CB style set emoticon
