Years ago loads of vessels would prefer the Shakespeare super big sticks " fibre glass antenna" ,I know a few river boat cb radio stations that use antron 99 because of there ease of erecting and performance with out a ground plane, in my 30 years of cb radio experience and used loads of quality and cheep base antennas the A99 would beat any cheep silver rod hand down, also a decent fabrication guy could knock you up a custom made tilt down bracket easy ' food for thought '.
