TVI

Hi, I am just looking for some advice. I have just bought a Intek HR-5500 and a half wave silver rod.
While I want to enjoy my hobby, I would hate to spoil other peoples entertainment. I am concerned about TVI, is there anyway to minimise this? I realise that TX power is part of this and I am only going to use the radio on low power, but is there anything else that can be done? Many thanks

Use a low pass filter, but TVI, although not entirely gone from radio, is mostly a thing of the past with digital transmissions and LCD TV's etc. Your more likely to suffer interference from someones TV that them get any TVI from you nowadays.

There is still interference risks, cordless phones, sound system speakers etc. But it pretty minimal.

Make sure you get one that can cope with your output power.

Something like this, (Although this looks a bit cheapy)

Thank you very much for that, I have just ordered one. Better to be on the safe side.

Re: TVI

Last year i have a visit because of my next door neighbour, saying i was causeing problems with his cable (fiber).

And the funnyest thing of all was that as we arrived home they arrived at the exact same time.

"we are hear to investigate a complaint your YOU are causeing problems with YOUR radio's"

So they come in and check all my equipment which at the time was all shut off, emoticon

So i explaind to them that is NOT possible for me to cause any interference when the radio's are off... lmao and i am linited to 10w of power, and showed them my licence and pointed the browser to ofcom site and showed them the licence conditions for my licence..

So they said leave it on and we will go next door...

They never came back.... LoLz

my next door neighbour is a (bleep*)(bleep*) hole. its been like this since we moved in this house over 20+ years ago.

I am using 10 watts power as well. I would hope that if I was causing TVI a neighbour would give a knock and say about it. But some people are just down right nasty !!!! I can see nor hear any interference on any of my equipment in the home, but I am very cautious. I have got the TVI filter
