Why this downtime ?
Runboard cares about integrity, security and availability of its message boards. Hundreds of thousands of users trust Runboard with their data and rely on our service for their forum needs on a weekly basis. This isn't taken lightly.
Our servers contain a lot of information changing constantly - forum posts, user registration information, and much more. In order to make sure that none of this data is lost for whatever reason, all of it is delicately backed up every week - with all of the backups taken off-site immediately.
Data loss is simply not in our dictionary - and this short weekly downtime is there to make sure it stays out.
The time of start of the backup is 09:15 GMT on Sundays, and lasts for about 20 minutes. During this time, the page you are looking at right now is displayed. The time of the backup has been chosen simply in regards to the usage statistics. 9:15 GMT is when there are the least users on our servers, therefore the smallest number of people possible should be experiencing this downtime.
