20+ db across whole hf spectrum

never bothered being homebase due to bt broadband powerline adaptor causing 5db around 11meters.
landlords just gone away for a bit so with the mfj941,yaesu 817 and a skanky bit of 60 foot wire and makeshift ground tried a bit of qrp dx last night on 80 meters.my new m6 call straight into belguim on 4 watts...nice but what isnt nice is 20+ db over the whole speccy.having swl,d using this same lazy set up,it has been really clear before but late on/early so its QRM from neighbours i think.
do Tellys, pcs or something else cause this,or not knowing how these powerline adaaptors work, could this be it(i dont get the interference on other hf bands swling with my 11m whip in the van outside, but this could be because of non resonance on these other bands.
if its the p line adaptor can i have it sorted by offcom being a licenced ham?if its the tellys or pc QRM is there anything i can do?
not that bothered but to do i bit from home now and then.

You don't have to be licenced. Everyone has a right to listen to the radio without interference. These PLT devices are becoming a real pain and if nothing's done we may be stuck with them plus a million more - I don't want that. The best you can do is to report it as you then become another statistic against them, and you will get the problem sorted out.

Clear out any illegal gear (as an engineer will call) and report the QRM using Ofcom's online form.

You may also wish to visit and join UKQRM, a pressure group set up for exactly this problem. The adress is here:

WHAT ???? any o my kit illegal.soap and water lad lol.no cheers Andy.will do but is this the prob?i.e if it is and the neighbour turns off his pc/broadband at night, does the powerline ad then also shut down?or could it be the pc/tv itself spuing stuff out.like i said earlier the HF spec seems quiet out front the house in the van but is terrible around 11 meters.is this because my wilson is tuned at 11 therefore picks it out?
i think 11 is like this 24/7 indicating the P.L.A but hf clears up inside the house at bed time indicating neighbors tvs or pc shutdown???? can any thing be done to cure this?

Hmmm... when I had PLT interference it wasn't too bad on 11. Try tuning an HF radio to about 5 MHz with it on AM (not SSB) - you will hear a constant whine with clicking sounds in it if it's a BT Vision PLT unit. These units radiate constantly even when not in use.

If you go to UKQRM as in my earlier post, there are a load of audio files uploaded there to help you identify the culprit. The Comtrend units (Used with BT Vision) are very distinctive sounding.

One important point:
if your HF rig will run off 12 volts, fit it to a battery and turn off your supply at the meter, just to be absolutely sure it's not coming from your own house, as Ofcom will charge you a fee if it is.

Edit:
There is the possibility of 11KV power line interference which I also suffer from, but this sounds different and is more of a buzzing arcing sound, which sometimes the noise blanker can help a bit with. I pot a recording of this on the UKQRM site too.
