Project 'Suzuki Bandit 600'....

My other hobby is Motorbikes, last year i bought a wreck of a Bandit 600 of a buddy of mine, how it had a M.O.T i dont know but it did, and it was a up to date one at that.

Anyway i decided to strip it and re-build it, ALL work including the painting was done by myself.

Here are some photos of the bike.

I did take loads of photos as its nice to keep a record of the work, its had loads of new parts including, rear disk, all bearings in the swing arm and linkage, new fork seals, new steering bearings, new sprockets and chain, anyway you get the idea.

Hi, Thanks for your reply, I do like the 'Armchair' on wheels.

My buddy had a 1200 Bandit, what a awsome machine, and so much torque.

Ive 2 spare bandit engines here, i was going to have one bored out a bit, but to make life easier i may just put a GSXR750 engine in it, but then again with the price of petrol i may get a push-bike.

Always nice to meet a fellow biker...

Regards from Mark

I do look back over the photos, And im Amazed that i take on these projects, this isnt the first and it proberbly wont be the last one either.

Dont get me wrong, I like to do the work myself,n sure if i had loads of cash i could pay someone to do it all, and i could pick the finished bike up totally finished and ready to ride, but wheres the acheavement in that, and im always skint anyway, so i do like to try and turn muck into brass.

Totally agree Mark.

I have done some projects with a 2 month time scale.....ended up being 11 months and £1k over budget, but thats the fun of doin stuff like that emoticon Far more satisfaction doin it yaself, rather than paying someone else to do it.

My next project ( after doin my sons abandoned 1974 CZ125 project)

is to street fighter my ZZR600

Only after i have sold my last project , my Vespa T5

Hi, and thanks for the Comments.

I know what you mean, This bike owes me about £1200 total including the original purchase price, thats not to bad really, not when i think about all the new parts ive put on the bike, such as the rear disk, drive chain and sprockets front and rear, recon brake calipers front and rear, new oil cooler ( they aint cheap) new steering bearings, complete rebuild of the swing arm bearings and linkages ( its suprising how much bearings and needle rollers cost) plus more....... you all get the picture ..... but puting the cost aside, its a fantastic feeling when its all finished and you stand back and say ' All my own work ' people are amazed at the FACT that all the painting was done using just spray cans, the colour is Tahiti Blue and diamond white for the wheels, all covered in high gloss laquer.
