Re: i-max 2000
its just like setting up any other 1/2-5/8 wave vertical really, just got 12 or is it 16 radials to plug in and allen key tight. I had the same results from a sirio tornado 5/8 wave though, the 827 was just strongly built and stood up to the wind. if i was static mobile i would prolly stick with something a little less heavy duty but they are a nice antenna. i'm thinkin of just gettin a standard 5/8 silver rod type thing for static mobile(i'm tight)

Re: i-max 2000
But then, I've done pretty well (by my standards anyhow) with just a dipole.
Surprising really - once you get one up on a longish pole, they do fairly well.
Next job for me is to lash up an inverted 'V' in the loft for 11 metres; It'll be strapped to the joists and fed via a choke balun. No idea how it'll work, but I'm hoping I'll get less hash from the computers & TVs around here which at the moment give a constant level of interference ranging from 5 - 9 on the meter, making the radio unuseable for anything other than very local work.

Re: i-max 2000
i suffer that way too, i get interference when i drive onto the estate and on the homebase. i have a boomerang in the loft at the mo but think i might try the inverted v dipole thingy. i want to se what sort of hf wire antenna i could get in the loft too(if i buy a radio)lookin likely)

Re: i-max 2000
I have used the A99 and the Imax. For me the Imax made too much noise in the wind and had enough qrn in the rain to sink a ship.
Then i tried the simple A99 with the FS99 tip upgrade and that was 2s points up on the Imax and the same 18ft antenna, now with a loaded 3/4 tip on the top.
Then tried a Sirio 1/2 alongside the A99 standard @ 70m on the top of the house here and they have the same performance.
A99 with FS99 against the Siro at the same height. The Antron could hear things on groundwave that the Sirio could not and then when tested on AM.FM with 43RC005 the A99+FS99 was at 9+10db on both modes with 20w input and the Sirio was 5-8 with the same power input on AM/FM
Thats my 2 pence worth
