Antenae solarcon A99 as a HAM USER
Well I'm now ready/looking to buy a HAM receiver.
Q- Will my A99 AERIAL be any good if connected to say a Kenwood TS140?

hi, my antron 99 does tune on a few ham bands for transmit but doesnt work that well below 21mhz. it receives ok ish down to 14mhz but on the lower bands it doesnt receive that well. for receive on lower bands i would use a long wire

And you will need to use a matcher of some sort - the 99 won't present a decent SWR on its own.
Far better to set up a properly tuned antenna for the band you want to use.

my a99 works very well on 10 mtr and tunes to 20

if you play about with the rings on the bottom section of the a99 it works well on 20

ive tried moving the rings on mine but stil cant get a good swr without the tuner

The antron99 my well tune on 20 !! I have the solarcon 99 and my internal tuner on my Icom will not tune it below 18 mzh and even at that it does not work to well

you can "tune" a 6 inch nail... does it mean its an antenna ?
no. if you re a ham? there are a lot better antennas than a 1/2l wave antron (expensive) fishing rod, the imax 2000 is not that much more in price but being a 5/8l, will have a better low angle radiation (gain).google "antron 99 exposed" for results...or your better using a windom etc
