Sirio 4 Element Beam

Hi, was just thinking of a new aerial and seen the beam! I like the look of them and I know it would make a big difference for dx work but do they have to go up high?
I realise that the higher they go the better, but it would only fit at the bottom of my garden and the garden slopes down, so where I have room for one, it would be a lot lower than the house, oh and if it faces the other way, there are mountains there!
So, worth a try or not?
Al
Maybe just tilt it to face up and miss the mountain!!!!

Thanks, I am taking it that it should be 18foot, as at 18 inches I would have problems cutting the grass! Mmm, it would be hidden there though and wouldnt catch the wind as much!!!

I use the Sirio 4 element beam, works well, does a fabulous job for DXing. Doesnt work so well on Ground wave as it horizontal. If you want to work local DX you'll need a vertical. Its not because theres anything wrong with the ant, its just that 99% of other stations use vertical and fror ground wave you'll work better if both stations are running the same polorisation emoticon

I can highly recommend this antenna though at least for DXing when the props there emoticon

Thanks both for the info, think I may leave it for now as I had forgot I would need a motor on it to turn it - no elec down garden- and its soooo wet and boggy down there I would have trouble putting in a post that would stay up!!
So, will now put my A99 high as I can on house and sit and wait for some prop.

Yes and a brilliant performer too.

26TM022 Phil uses one, as does 104GT011 Roy, who builds them and ships them all over the world and 1TA152 Dario, who claims to be the inverntor of the "Spider Bamby" emoticon All are prolific 11m users emoticon
