Re: Inverted V 11m 1/4 wave
Good to hear that, when you have no choice and you can get some DX from home with a loft aerial I think its great. Particularly when its homemade, as thats even more rewarding. And plenty of stations will want to copy you and find out about it on air as well I reckon.
There have been some working conditions into Europe but its not been an easy DX, many stations have'nt been able to copy me so well sometimes with 800w and a 4 element beam, so just because we can hear them, doesnt meen they can hear us so well at times Particularly Europe as other divisions are stronger to each other but we may only hear one side.
For instance, I answered a call recently to a station in 329 division, I could only hear his station at 5/9. But he returned to a 14 division station saying he was 5/9+10db into 329, but I couldnt hear the 14 div station at all
I reckon as conditions improve, your loft antenna will work as good as any mobile veertical, and they get out pretty good at times
I know what you mean about local GW though its the same with my beam, crap, this is not because it doesnt work but for ground wave you need the same polarisation as the other station ideally, and 99% of those are using verticals. Maybe we can talk GW Paddy as horiz to horiz works even better

Yes, as close, or actually onto the TV as possible. Might work?
