Need help with Antenna Reflector or Director
Hello, i need help with my Folded Dipol. She works very beautiful (QSO with 12.000km).I would like to improve this antenna with a reflector.
This is a Pic from my Balcony:
My idea Folded Dipol with Reflector.
My Question:
- Works this?
- What is better, reflector or director?
- Can you tell me how long the reflector and distance to dipole?

Re: Need help with Antenna Reflector or Director
A good general rough and ready guide the reflector should be 3% to 5% longer than the driven element and the director is aprox 3% shorter than the driven element and the spacing around 20%
also have you considered a Lazy H antenna as a alternative

Re: Need help with Antenna Reflector or Director
Nice antenna there, and lots of height too.
I reckon a beam with a driven element and reflector is no better or worse than a beam with a driven element and director, they just work differently.
The driven with a director on front will have more gain to the front and no rear rejection. The driven with a reflector at the back that you have will have slightly less gain to the front but better rear rejection, saying that, your building will be acting like a reflector also.
It may not be practical to put a director on the front for you as you would need to bring the driven element back to the wall which may not work as well as it does out in the free space as it is now.
You could try a wire Moxon antenna also with the shape of the space you have, the director and reflector are bent to meet each other with a small gap between reflector and director. They work extremely well and will ensure near all the power TX and RX will go to the front direction.
