Does anyone have this radio in use,How does it compare with the CRE8900, I see Nevada have them for a good price at the moment. Are they easy to program from the PC?.
Thanks,
Dave. emoticon

Re: Alinco DR-135DX

Morning Dave,

I have a superstar 6900n which is virtually the same thing. Have only just taken it out of the box to program it and it was very straight forward.

To be honest with you, most of the programming, if not all, can be done via the keyboard on the front panel itself. I have version six software which also adds more programming features to the "on board" so to speak.

However, if you don't want to faff around with programming all the different frequencies yourself, there are "DAT" files already available for you to download off the net somewhere, may even be some here on the forums but I haven't looked yet.

As for a comparison to the "cre8900" I would imagine they are the same radio.

Here is a Youtube video I found for you.

Here is another review by "Simonthewizard"
Review of Alinco

As for my 6900, I can only receive at present, and cannot confirm TX, but RX is quite good. The whole feel is a little "plasticky" for me, and I don't like the way every thing stays in memory for a particular channel, ie, if you move the carifier, when you move away from that channel, it keeps the settings you made whilst on there, so when you go back the channel is not on the correct frequency. You have to remember to undo all changes before you leave, which to me is ridiculous, however, having said that, you do get a lot of radio for your money, and other reviews have quoted it as being pretty stable on SSB.

....And here is a review of my particular model, the Superstar ss6900n v6 emoticon
Superstar ss6900n v6 review

Hope this helps Dave.

You're welcome Dave emoticon
Pound for pound the SS6900N is a better radio after reading reviews on all three, but I must say I do like both the new Grant & Lincoln, but compared to the SS6900N (or clone equivs) they are way over priced.IMHO that is.

Good luck with your choice.
