Homebrew pics
made a few beams recently based on popular designs by maco and gizmotchy.
i enjoy finding ways of making these antennas using parts easily available.

Re: Homebrew pics
Very nice, had looked at the gizmotchy aerials, how do they perform?
Love looking at the home brews but anything I seem to make falls to bits!

Re: Homebrew pics
Cracking job there, I like the PDL 2 look-a-like
I used to use a PDL 2 years ago, I had a switch so I could co-phased the horizontal and vertical polarisation, although I used to find it worked best with just Horizontal for DX, as you would expect I suppose, and not very directional on vertical, but great for local stuff.

Re: Homebrew pics
Gizmotchy is a good antenna but the flat side is better then the vertical.
the vertical on the quad is very good as is the flat side so in future id be inclined to make the quad.
making them is easy, i just work of the installation instructions on the maco site and then tune them down with the analyzer.
ive included a few pics of some basic materials

Re: Homebrew pics
This is another antenna i made originally for pmr446.
center fed vertical dipole cut 3 quarter wavelengths, approx 48 cm.
swr is below 1.5.
ive made a few of them and they seem to working very well.

Re: Homebrew pics
I recently made this v quad antenna for one of the lads here in Dublin.
very easy antenna to make and easy to match.
Its a copy of a maco antenna and most of the info required to build it is in their instructions which can be got from their site.

Re: Homebrew pics
That Delta Loop is absolutely gorgeous. I'd like to hear more about it's performance, especially if you've tried other designs, ie: Yagi, Quad, etc...

Re: Homebrew pics
Thanks, on 27.555 the swr was 1.12 and the impedance was 54ohms.
its working in a station that is not my own so i have yet to use it myself.
i tend to make antennas and give them out to people to test for me.

Re: Homebrew pics
HB9CV
I have been threatening to make one of these for a while now.
They are a two element beam with two driven elements matched with connecting gammas.
I have made this one for 11mtrs.
I have all of the parts made and used materials i can get my hands on easily.
the plan is to put it up temporarily tomorrow and throw the analyzer on it and get it adjusted.
