Any good FB/EC HTs?
What are the best, (assuming such a thing even exists), HTs to access FB and EC? Iirc CB HTs are largely not able to access FB and EC properly without hardware modification, or am I mistaken? Is there any good HT that can access these meters properly out of the box with only CHIRP (or similar) modification? (Basically anything without soldering...)
I'd also be open to hearing about good highly portable options, but HTs are my preference.

Re: Any good FB/EC HTs?
Hi there.
There are very few HF handheld's for 3-30 Mhz.
The one I know of is the Albrecht AE-2990-AFS.It also can't cover all the free banding channels although I know some are trying to work around their programming.
AS for Echo Charlie?
There are however, in the ham world, a series of small QRP (low power) HF sets, although I don't know of any that can do continuous tuning from 3 to 30 Mhz.
Mostly they work in the ham bands BUT can be tweaked.
Cost? DIY (soldering) £100, to buy ready to go, £200 plus. Only you've still got the problem of the aerial.
Hope this helps.
