If not, you could cut a dipole for something near the right length, use a matcher and literally bung the wires over some trees and hedges. It works! Not perfectly, but it surprised me. Easily deployed, and easily removed when some farmer with a gun asks what you are doing!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Hot Fusion)Sun, 30 May 2021 10:05:02 +0000 Re: 45m Antenna Portable Usehttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p27997,from=rss#post27997https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p27997,from=rss#post27997I’ve had reasonable success with 7MHz using a top loaded 5’ fibreglass whip I home brewed from an AM/FM whip. The bandwidth is tight, as in 100KHz but the performance is acceptable with contacts as far as 1000Km during the day and over 3000Km RBN 30dB spot at night on just 20 Watts 86m is going to be a real struggle for mobile ops. Get a NanoVNA. They are great at working out what your antenna is doing and getting it to resonate and helping you find a match. nondisclosed_email@example.com (MrFidget)Thu, 27 May 2021 23:17:34 +0000 Re: 45m Antenna Portable Usehttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p27982,from=rss#post27982https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p27982,from=rss#post27982Thanks for your reply. I has great SWR on just about all the other bands and has very good ears. Due to a back injury, I have been unable to get it more than 4m above the ground but it is working surprisingly well. https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/cma-cha-250bnondisclosed_email@example.com (43RC982)Mon, 29 Mar 2021 22:45:09 +0000 45m Antenna Portable Usehttps://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p27979,from=rss#post27979https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p27979,from=rss#post27979Hi everyone, I've been freebanding since 1979 on 11m but have little knowledge of the other bands. Wanted the benefit of the experienced HF operators on an easily portable antenna for ideally 86m and 45m something that could be set up from a vehicle. I've got a mag mount for 45m but obviously would have limited capability and a wire seems like it would take a lot to set up for portable use Was wondering about a HF fibreglass vertical such as the Sigma SE HF 360 (80 to 6m). Wondered what more experience members would advise on a vertical or do you really need a horizontal wire? Thanks for your helpnondisclosed_email@example.com (Brokken Spectre)Sat, 27 Mar 2021 09:38:24 +0000
