11m moxon
I bit the bullet a few weeks ago and ordered am 11m Moxon off of an antenna maker on Facebook. It was advertised at 11db of gain at 11m high. I have been using it for nearly a month now and am very happy with the reports I have been getting.
This afternoon there was no skip anywhere while listening on my Stationmaster but with the Moxon pointing North from Central Australia I QSO'd with Manilla in the Philippines (some 5500km) and Charters Towers in North Queensland (about 900km) .
The footprint of the antenna is much smaller than most Yagi or beam type antennas, allowing for a smaller tower and much cheaper rotator. I will have all of the above ,with a bearing and controller cable including the Yaesu 450 rotator for under $1000au.
I have spinal injuries so building the antenna was beyond me but with the help of some friends I will have the whole thing set up in a fer weeks in its permanent location.
I am more than happy with the $200 price tag and the fact that it is, by design a very wide band antenna. I can get 1;1 swr from 26Mhz up to 29.700 with the Icom IC7300 internal tuner.
