If i was going to use a 50 foot mast i think i would guy it, thats pretty high up and it would only take a gust of wind to bend itnondisclosed_email@example.com (topbuzzuk)Tue, 14 Oct 2008 10:42:22 +0000 Re: mobile aerial for mast?https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p3737,from=rss#post3737https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p3737,from=rss#post3737i usually only extend my portable mast to around 15ft ,after all iam usually about 1500ft asl??nondisclosed_email@example.com (26fb139)Tue, 14 Oct 2008 08:59:27 +0000 Re: mobile aerial for mast?https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p3731,from=rss#post3731https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p3731,from=rss#post3731Cheers Tony, that would be easy, I never thought of that! May be able to use the A99 after all coz I found I can lock the top sections of the mast to stop them going up so would be quite stable then, will have to try it when I have a bit of spare time (not this week!) Seems ages since hollidays, am ready for another one now. There should be enough metal to give you Ground plane? Not sure how the direction path would go, maybe someone with more knowledge could let you know if its possible? Cheersnondisclosed_email@example.com (tony147)Mon, 13 Oct 2008 09:01:45 +0000 mobile aerial for mast?https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p3722,from=rss#post3722https://bfreebandingtalktheplanet.runboard.com/p3722,from=rss#post3722I have a mast for mobile use but its not sturdy enough for my A99, not without guyropes anyway so was wondering if a mobile ant would fit on it, would the mast serve as the groundplane or would I have to put a ground plane onto the bottom of the ant? The mast is 50 foot and whips around a lot with a bit of wind. I now have a metal roofbox on the mobile and cant get swr down and its a big job to take it off.
